Blackened trees on the Healesville - Kinglake highway a month after bushfires ravaged the state. The Black Saturday fires, which began on 7th February 2009, were the deadliest in Australia's history. The fires killed 173 people, displacing 7,500 and destroying 2,000 homes over an area of 450,000 hectares.
