Tofiga holds some Pulaka the prestige food now rare and reserved on the whole for the elite. Pulaka grows in deep swamps where the fresh watertable once seeped continually, nowadays drought prevails often, the fresh water lens under the atolls becomes brackish due to the rise in sea levels and Pulaka grows less well in fewer places. Tofiga is a paster and has received the gift from outer-island relatives
