The Coliban River

The dry Coliban River bed was hit by embers from the Redesdale fire causing a spot fire on or around Black Saturday the 7th February when record high temperates, high winds and extremely dry conditions resulted in bushfires killing 173 people across the State. The river is one of the many thousands of nominal water courses found anywhere north and west of the Great Divide that is dry most of the time, this is where only major rivers flow with any degree of certainty.
