The Reef Fisherman

Naseli Kaitu, b 1933, is a chief and elder of Funafuti people. A carpenter most of his life, he worked on Banaba from 1952 - 56 for 8 pound a month and built classrooms more recently for Motofoua on Vaitupu one of the nation's two secondary schools. He says he's been fishing nearly every day of his life and these days enjoys throwing a net out over the reef in the lagoon near his home at Fagafale
