The 31st of January 1968, Independence Day for Nauruans and every year since the anniversery is celebrated. Wresting is one traditional game still enjoyed in Nauru where most traditional activity has long since disapeared. The annual competitions are held on Independence day in the flat open space next to the phosphate factory.
